Judith ter Haar and Daniëlle Bruggeman both are deeply involved in fashion education at ArtEZ University of the Arts. They want to know about us: What colour are we? What smell are we? What taste are we? What if food could speak?
TALKING FOOD will be a learning by doing workshop where we will create our own visual and sensorial narrative with food. We will listen through making, and understand through analyzing, reflecting, tasting and observing. Our personal narrative becomes a conversation piece.
In this workshop we give agency to food and explore the relationship between the nature of food and the nature of self. We focus on food as an educator – about how we treat the earth, each other and ourselves – by experiencing it with all our senses, and by developing embodied knowledge in doing so.
Daniëlle Bruggeman is Professor of Fashion at ArtEZ University of the Arts. She teaches at both the MA Fashion Strategy and the MA Fashion Design at ArtEZ, and leads the Centre of Expertise Future Makers in collaboration with dr. Jeroen van den Eijnde. The Fashion Professorship aims to develop critical theories and practices in order to explore, better understand, and rethink the cracks in the fashion system.
Judith ter Haar is Interim Head of the MA Fashion Strategy at ArtEZ University of the Arts. She is concept developer, curator and business builder, who strives to connect people, products and places through emotional experience. Driven by intuitive knowledge, she combines her naturally inherent sense for aesthetics and emerging developments with a deep understanding of culture, art, philosophy and society.
