Ed van Hinte was trained as an industrial designer. He works as a researcher, teacher, lecturer and writer focusing on slimming down material flows. There are three main themes: lightweight structures, product life extension and material flow management. With Katja Gruijters he is working on a food satiation project.
Communication about food gets confused by good intentions. Scientists try to explain facts to the public. Government sets rules that are meant to be simple. Media tell stories to charm readers. Consumers understand food in the way they prefer. Design can help provide consumption clarity with better translation principles.
